Riveringen

Riveringen (/riveringen/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Small Town located in Tukrivozaz̄a Parish, Emada County, within the Kingdom of Helsteria.

The name Riveringen is derived from the Sylvin language, as Riveringen was founded by Fyêbmëm Firestone Mayberry, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Riveringen has a yearly average temperature of 23°C (73°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 19°C (66°F). Riveringen receives an average of 182 cm/y (71 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Riveringen covers an area of nearly 4 km² (1 mi²), and an average elevation of 8088 m (-16414 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Riveringen was founded durring the late 15th century in summer of the year 1386, by Fyêbmëm Firestone Mayberry. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Riveringen was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Riveringen is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Riveringen is buildings are arranged arround a network of restrictive paverstone streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town has a defencive wall made from large clay bricks. The wall is constructed to the exact specifications of millitary fortifications, but the nature of its clay brick construction leaves it vulnerable to even outdated siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. Riveringen's brittle defences has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

A look around Riveringen has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scuttling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s all of those things together, or perhaps it's the way these elements combine with the simple fact that it is abundantly clear Riveringen suffered something horrible some time ago. It's as if the town itself is depressed. Smiles are few, cheer is nowhere to be had. Everyone quietly goes about their daily business not looking anyone in the eye. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Riveringen long.

Riveringen has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Riveringen.

Riveringen has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Riveringen has a Department of Firefighters, which is responsible for organizing fire fighting efforts during a fire and enforcing local ordinances relating to fire safety.

Riveringen has a Hall of Slayers, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Riveringen has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Riveringen's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Riveringen has a first rate hospital which caters to anyone in need of long term medical care.

Riveringen has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Riveringen has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Riveringen's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by order, symmetry, formal design, grandiosity, and elaborate ornamentation. Architectural characteristics include balustrades, balconies, columns, cornices, pilasters, and triangular pediments. Stone exteriors are massive and grandiose in their symmetry; interiors are typically polished and lavishly decorated with sculptures, swags, medallions, flowers, and shields. Interiors will often have a grand stairway and opulent ballroom..

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is skipped in Riveringen.

The Botfly, Giant near Riveringen are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Riveringen's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves consuming a local toxin to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 2 via proclamations.

Economy
